Tom Ford Rumored for Gucci Creative Director

It might be the fashion equivalent of asking if Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt are getting back together, but the ever-churning fashion rumor mill is at it again, and this time it's aimed at Tom Ford and Gucci. Page Six is reporting that, "his [Ford's] name has been mentioned as the next designer for the Italian fashion house." The rumors come just weeks after the announcement of designer Frida Giannini's departure from the Italian brand, along with her partner and CEO Patrizio di Marco.

Ford served as Creative Director of Gucci for a decade between 1994 and 2004— a golden era in sales and stature for the label, when Ford leveraged sex appeal and sultry ads. The designer exited the brand following a public dispute with Gucci's parent company François-Henri Pinault and PPR—now renamed to Kering. Ford currently heads up his own billion-dollar eponymous label, which doesn't bode well for offering his time and talent to another fashion house. Other names being whispered for the job include Joseph Altuzarra and Riccardo Tisci. Only time and the next rumor will tell.
